After witnessing some growth over weekend, Manmarziyaan box office collection slowed down drastically as the weekdays started.
The film had received all round of applause from the critics, and it was expected that strong word of mouth would help Manmarziyan do well at the box office.Â
Manmarziyaan is unlike any Anurag Kashyap film you’ve seen before. The maturity with which the film talks about love and relationships is refreshing. Despite its strengths, this romantic drama might be, at times, a little too mature for the average audience. The climactic scene where Taapsee and Abhishek have a long exchange of dialogue is pure cinematic delight. Amit Trivedi’s music elevates the emotions in the film to a large degree. After Pink, this is the best performance by Taapsee. Vicky, as the quintessential Punjabi munda is superb too. But it’s Abhishek’s performance that adds to the drama. This film will definitely remind you of how much more untapped potential he still has. Film critics are rooting for this movie as one of the best romantic movies to come out of Bollywood in a long time.
Earlier, Bhumi Pednekar, Ayushmann Khurrana and Dulquer Salmaan were cast to play the lead roles but soon the original cast was replaced with the new one. Junior Bachchan, Taapsee and Vicky have not worked together on the big screens and this adds to the freshness of the film.
But, here’s what adds up to the steep fall of the movie:
Starring Taapsee Pannu, Abhishek Bachchan and Vicky Kaushal, Manmarziyan had a slow start with an earning of Rs 3.53 crore on the opening day.
Considering the decelerated pace at the box office, Manmarziyan is less likely to end up its run with a decent total as Batti Gul Meter Chalu starring Shahis Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles, is also releasing next Friday. This will certainly further halt the business of Kashyap's film.
The film is still getting a tough competition from Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's film Stree, which has already entered the coveted Rs 100 crore club.
Despite all the appreciation and rave reviews, Anurag Kashyap's film Manmarziyaan has witnessed a considerable dip in the business on its fifth day. Promoted as return of Abhishek Bachchan from a hiatus has failed to weave magic at the box office. Here’s the box office collection:
#Manmarziyaan remains on the lower side on Day 4
… Fri 3.52 cr, Sat 5.11 cr, Sun 5.70 cr, Mon 2.10 cr. Total: ₹ 16.43 cr. India biz. — taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) September 18, 2018
The film has been helmed by ace filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. The movie has been penned by Kanika Dhillon and is produced by the Anil Ambani-led Reliance Entertainment's Phantom Films joint venture.Â
