Veteran actor Manoj Actor who delivered a spectacular performance in Sonchiriya was conferred the Padma Shri award by President Ram Nath Kovind. 

Dressed in a traditional off-white Bandgala kurta, Manoj received the award along with cricketer Gautam Gambhir and the renowned scientist Nambi Narayanan. Interestingly, a film is currently in the works on Narayanan, which is called Rocketry: The Nambi Effect featuring R Madhavan in the titular role.

The President of India's tweet reads, "President Kovind presents Padma Shri to Shri Manoj Bajpayee for Art (Cinema). A renowned film actor, he is known for his versatile roles and has worked in more than 60 films"

 

Co-stars and director congratulated the director for his achievement that includes Tapsee Pannu, Sonu Sood, Hansal Mehta, Anurag Kashyap among others.

 

Co-incidentally  the Arakshaan actor on Wednesday tweeted a poster of his 2018 movie "Gali Guleiyan" and taking a dig on not getting nominations at the mainstream awards wrote: "So used to the fact that all the films of mine which are highly acclaimed nationally and internationally don't even get a place in the nominations list of so-called big mainstream awards here, forget about winning. Creative pursuit and exploitation continue! Gali Guleiyan."

The actor will next be seen in the Netflix film Dhaka that features Chris Hemsworth, Pankaj Tripathi, David Harbour and Randeep Hooda in pivotal roles.
