According to film business analyst Taran Adarsh, "The movie is witnessing stronger occupancy post 3 pm shows, after a lukewarm takeoff in morning... Multiplexes are dominating... Riding on super-strong word of mouth + tremendous critical acclaim, the footfalls should multiply on Day 2 and 3"
Prior to Mardaani 2, Rani appeared in Hichki in March 2018. Cast as an aspiring teacher with Tourette syndrome, Rani's role of Naina Mathur was applauded by critics as well as fans.
