#MeToo: Kate Sharma files police complaint against Subhash Ghai for alleged sexual harassment

While #MeToo movement is still a burning chapter in the Bollywood industry, several reputed names have been exposed of alleged sexual assaults. Actor Kate Sharma has filed a police complaint against filmmaker Subhash Ghai for sexually harassing her. Subhash Ghai was also recently accused of raping a woman after spiking her drink several years ago. The filmmaker has opened about the matter and said that he too supports the MeToo movement but warned his accusers of their short-time fame.

Kate Sharma released a statement to ANI saying she was called by the filmmaker at his house on August 6. “There were five to six people present there, and he asked me to give him a massage. I massaged him and went inside to wash my hands, where he followed me. He called me to his room to talk but tried to kiss me,” the actor stated.

Subhash Ghai took to his Twitter handle to express his anguish over the accusations and wrote, "I am surely a grt supporter of d metoo movement n women empowerment bt hope that those taking undue advantage of the movement do not end up diluting it 4their own short time fame. I feel grief if some one trying 2harm my reputation. Any way my lawyers will take care of matter"

Earlier on Thursday, taking to Twitter, Mahima Kukreja reshared an account originally narrated to her by an anonymous woman, who revealed that Subhash Ghai promised to be her “mentor in the film industry.”  She recalled the time when the director allegedly took her to the hotel suite after spiking her drink, and later he raped her.

However, Subhash Ghai denied any such misconduct in an interview with PTI. He asserted that ithas now turned a fashion to malign anyone known and to defame them by bringing some stories from the past without acknowledging any truth in it. “I deny strictly and firmly all false allegations like these," added the director.
