Akshay Kumar's big-ticket release this Independence Day has fans fighting for tickets. Mission Mangal, which has him in the role of ISRO scientist Rakesh Dhawan spear-heading a team of scientists ready to execute India's Mars mission has already broken some records at the box office.
An expert of patriotic movies and Independence day release, Akshay's Mission Mangal got a bumper opening becoming his highest grosser so far, even beating last release Kesari. And like all his previous Independence Day releases, Mission Mangal has got a bumper opening.
Mission Mangal striking the right chord with the audience has garnered a whopping Rs 29.16 cr on its opening day from around 3000 screens in India beating his last year I-day release Gold by a few crores.

Interestingly, this year Akshay Kumar has returned to the 70 mm with an army of heroines. A space drama, first of its kind in Bollywood is based on the historic feat of India's launch of its first satellite to Mars spear-headed by Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari with Sharman Joshi.
Mission Mangal is directed by South filmmaker Jagan Shakti and jointly produced by Fox Star Studios and Cape Of Good Films in collaboration with R Balki. The movie will hit the screens on August 15, 2019, and it will have a box office clash with John Abraham's Batla House.
