'Mubarakan' witnesses weekend growth at box office, 'Indu Sarkar' fails to impress audience

After creating a buzz over its release across the country Arjun Kapoor's recent release 'Mubarakan' has opened up on a good note at the box office. 'Mubarakan', which is a romantic comedy, brings together the real-life uncle-nephew pair of Anil Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor for the first time on the big screen.

The movie which has amassed a satisfactory amount of Rs 5.25 crore on the first day of its release, witnessed a sudden weekend growth on Saturday. The movie which is said to have left a good impression on the viewers has managed to collect a good amount of Rs 12.63 crore so far.

'Mubarakan' has created a lot of buzz in the tinselvile with its eye-catchy promos and foot tapping numbers. Besides, the stellar cast including Ileana D'Cruz, Athiya Shetty and Ratna Pathak Shah, added to the curiosity for 'Mubarakan'. On the other hand, Arjun Kapoor's double role appearance and his commendable chemistry with uncle Anil won the movie brownie points.

Famous Biz analyst Taran Adarsh on Sunday took to Twitter to share the weekend collection of this Anees Bazmee directorial.

Taran wrote, "#Mubarakan jumps on Sat... Records 40.57% growth... Biz should escalate on Sun too... Fri 5.25 cr, Sat 7.38 cr. Total: ₹ 12.63 cr. India biz."

Earlier 'Mubarakan' has drooled people over its eye-catchy promos and foot tapping numbers one after another.

While the Ileana D'Cruz starrer is expected to escalate the box office collection further, Madhur Bhandarkar's latest controversial release 'Indu Sarkar' has falied to bring the audiences to theatres.

'Indu Sarkar' which is based on the Emergency period between 1975 till 1977 that, imposed by the then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi has been witnessing a dull collection since the day of its release.

After making a series of blockbusters like 'Page 3' and 'Fashion', it seems like this time Bhandarkar has failed to surprise his audience.

The Rs 11 crore budget movie which was expected to make a collection of Rs 2 crore on the first day of its release has already begun to struggle in the box office.

Although, a lot was said about the story and release of 'Indu Sarkar', including the tiff with CBFC, the controveries failed to do wonders in box office.

While the movie semms to be a failure in terms of box office collection, actor like Kirti Kulhari, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Parvin Dabbas, Tota Roy Chowdhury and Supriya Vinod are winning appreaciation for their commendable performances in the flick.

Apparently, while a word-of-mouth might work for 'Indu Sarkar' in the upcoming weekend, it is also facing protests across the country.

Congress workers, on Friday, disrupted shows of Madhur Bhandarkar's "Indu Sarkar", the film based on the Emergency imposed by the Indira Gandhi government in 1975, at several cinema halls in the state.

As the film released on Friday, the party workers stalled its screening at some theatres and multiplexes in Thane, Nanded, Nashik and Jalgaon districts. However, the shows resumed later amid tight police security, police officials said.

"Police have kept a strict vigil outside the theatres and no untoward incident has been reported so far," they said.

On the work front, while Arjun Kapoor is at present busy shooting his upcoming venture 'Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar', Madhur Bhandarkar will be back with his next venture namely 'Madamji'.

Starring Priyanka Chopra in the lead the Maiden Home Production's flick is all set to hit the floor soon.
