Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has expressed his views on the ongoing controversies and protests against ‘Padmavati.’

Naqvi said he watches films as films, without getting into the history or geography as depicted in them.

"What you like in a film should be accepted and what you do not like, should be left there. I am neither supporting nor opposing the film," said Naqvi on being asked if he opposed the film's release.

On the ongoing protests against the film, he said, "I see films as films and do not get into its history or geography."

‘Padmavati’ has been facing a lot of problems since its inception.

Its director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, was assaulted by the activists of a Rajput community group, the Karni Sena, during the shooting of the film in Jaipur.

Protests against Padmavati and Bhansali have gained a lot of momentum since the past few days which has led to security being tightened at director’s office and residence in Mumbai.
