Remember the patient in Rajkumar Hirani’s Munnabhai MBBS, who tried to commit suicide because he was dumped by a girl? The role was played by Vishal Thakkar and if recent reports are to be believed, the actor has been missing for the last three years.
According to a report in Indian Express, the actor has been missing from last three years and the police has not been able to find his whereabouts. The report further states that on 31 December, 2015, Vishal borrowed Rs 500 from his mother Durga to watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He had invited her along, but she declined. Later that night around 1am, he had texted his father saying, ‘’ I am going to a party. See you tomorrow." However, he never came back. It’s been three years since then and there ahs been no progress on the case at all.
According to police, Vishal was last seen on Ghodbunder Road in Thane on January 1 at 11.45am by his girlfriend, as he got into an auto-rickshaw to Andheri for a shoot. His last Facebook post was ‘Happy New Year’ which was posted at 12:10 pm on the same day.
Post that, Vishal’s phone was switched off and never turned on since then. There was no ransom call. "Initially, we suspected the girlfriend. But her statement had no discrepancies," former investigating officer Mahendra Puri said. Inspector N A Kulkarni said that the police is yet to find out whether it was a murder, a kidnapping or he simply ran away.
The reports also suggested that Vishal had ran into trouble when in October 2015, his previous girlfriend had filed a rape and assault charge against him. His mother revealed, "She frequented our house. One day they were together and the next day, she landed at my door with police. It was a minor fight. Later, the two of them resolved it."
Though she withdrew her complaint, his standing in the industry took a hit and work suffered, leading him depressed. "He was a mumma's boy. He could not bear the insult we faced," Durga added.
There is no trace of Vishal yet, revealed constable Rajesh Pandey, who is currently handling the case.
