Dr. Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani: This black and white feature film dates back to 1946, when filmmaker-actor V. Shantaram bravely based his film on the real-life adventure of Dr. Dwarkanath Kotnis. The biopic of Dr. Kotnis relives that incredible era of history when a contingent of Indian doctors volunteered medical assistance and travelled all the way to China to assuage the wounds of war victims.
Do Aankhen Barah Haath: Directed by V. Shantaram, Do Aankhen Barah Haath is considered one of the classics of Hindi cinema and is based on Humanistic psychology. The film revolves around a progressive, reform-minded young warden played by V. Shantaram himself, who gets permission to take six surly murderers from prison to a dilapidated country farm. Through guidance and hardwork of V. Shantaram, the prisoners are able to produce good harvest. The film released in 1957.
Munnabhai MBBS: Directed by Raj Kumar Hirani, the film revolves around pratagonist Munna Bhai (Sanjay Dutt), a goon who goes to medical school to fulfill the dream of his father. It was later followed by a second film Lage Raho Munna Bhai, and became the first instalment of the Munna Bhai film series. The film also stars Arshad Warsi, Gracy Singh, Boman Irani, Jimmy Shergill and Sunil Dutt.
Anand: Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, the film stars Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan and Sumita Sanyal in prominent roles. The plot of the film revolves around Anand, who is on last stage of cancer and wishes to live life to the fullest before the inevitable occurs. Dr Bhaskar Bannerjee (played by Amitabh Bachchan) helps him out during this situation.
Khamoshi: Starring Rajesh Khanna and Waheeda Rehman, Khamoshi is based on the Bengali short story titled, Nurse Mitra. The film is an intriguing tale of a female nurse trying to maintain a balance between her professional life and love life. The film hit the screens in 1970.
