Biopics are the new ‘it’ for Nawazuddin Siddiqui. After emerging as a one-man army in biopic movies like Thackeray and Manto, the exceptional actor is back of another biopic-based movie. According to reports, the Sacred Games actor, who is also believed to be a huge fan of folk singer Teejan Bai is all ready to take on his role for his next project, based on the folk singer. The Bombay Times reports that Nawazuddin Siddiqui and his wife Aaliya Siddiqui will be producing a biopic based on Bai, whom he had tremendously admired since his theatre days.
Speaking about the movie, the Manto actor said he will also be creatively involved in the project. “Teejan Bai is a legend and we hope we can make this film relevant, not just for the film festivals, but also the audience in general,” he said. Details of the cast and crew are, however, yet to be confirmed.

Talking about the character whose film will be based on, Teejan Bai, is a renowned advocate of Pandavani, a folk art from Chhattisgarh that involves narrations and performances from the Indian epic Mahabharata. The folk singer was also awarded the prestigious Padma Vibushan, the second highest civilian award in 2019.
