Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Thackeray is making it to the news every day since its inception. The film’s intriguing trailer is out already and Nawazuddin’s mettle as an actor is being praised by one and all! The film is based on the life of Bal Thackeray also known as Balasaheb Thackeray, who founded the political party, Shiv Sena. The film will see Nawazuddin as the late Shiv Sena supremo, and Amrita Rao as his wife, Meena Tai Thackeray.

The biopic Thackeray, produced by Sena MP Sanjay Raut and starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, is slated for release on January 25. Shiv Sena leaders demanded no other film be allowed to clash with the biopic. As per the demands, Emraan Hashmi starrer Cheat India, which was scheduled to release on January 25 has been preponed by a week to give a window to Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Thackeray. Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi will also be delayed or released earlier.

Recently, The Thugs of Hindostan actor, Aamir Khan was addressing the media at a press conference. Mr Perfectionist of Bollywood, who was asked about the ongoing row around Thackeray’s release, hailed leader Balasaheb Thackeray as the biggest star. Khan said: " “There is no bigger star than Balasaheb Thackeray in Maharashtra. Every producer always looks at their business. Everybody wants to watch this film that day. So, it's obvious that no other filmmaker will screen their film on the same day.”

On the other hand, Congress spokesperson Nawab Malik has accused Shiv Sena of pressurising other filmmakers. He said, “Since the release of Emraan Hashmi's ' Cheat India' film has been preponed, it is clear that Shiv Sena has pressurized the filmmakers. If Shiv Sena feels that no film should release on that day, then Shiv Sena should book all the theatres and buy all the tickets. It is inappropriate to bring pressure like this.”

Thackeray, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the late Shiv Sena chief, is written and produced by Sanjay Raut.
