Netflix India has just rvealed that cast for the second season of Sacred Games and the star cast has the old and the new.
Apart from series regulars Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who play Sartaj Singh and Ganesh Gaitonde respectively the new cast includes Kalki Koechlin, Ranvir Shorey.
Kalki was last seen in Amazon prime's Made in Heaven while Ranvir Shorey made his degital debut with Metro Park for Eros Now. Not much is revealed about the fate of characters like Kubra Sait, Radhika Apte.
A minor character in season one, Guruji is expected to play a vital role in the new season, which will be premiered sometime this year.
The second edition is being directed by Anurag Kashyap and Neeraj Ghaywan (Masaan, 2015). Ghaywan has replaced Vikramaditya Motwane, who is continuing as the showrunner. The online streaming service however, has not revealed the date of release but it is expected to strem by July end of August first week.
Sobhita Dhulipala who shot to fame with Amazon Prime's Made In Heaven will also reportedly star in the series, howebver nothing as such has been confirmed as of yet.
Netflix is delaying the show as the content is not up to the mark. ''Netflix is going through it again and that’s why the delay. It seems like the platform isn’t happy with the final outcome. Rumours suggest that this season isn’t that great as the first one. Well, only time will tell if the audience likes the show or not but we all have high hopes'', reports MensXp.
Apart from India, the show has been shot in abroad locations as well including Cape Town. While Masaan director Neeraj Ghaywan has replaced Vikramaditya Motwane to direct Saif Ali Khan’s part, Anurag Kashyap will direct Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s sequences.
Sacred Games, based on Vikram Chandra’s 2006 novel of the same name, follows the quest of Mumbai Police officer Sartaj Singh to save Mumbai from a possible nuclear attack after being forewarned by gangster Ganesh Gaitonde.
