Renowned Bollywood singer Tulsi Kumar, who recently won her first IIFA Award this year, is back to entertain the audience with her new single 'Ik Yaad Purani'.
While the song is a soulful track, it caters both Hindi and Punjabi audiences.
Interesingly, 'Ik Yaad Purani' happens to be Tulsi's fourth collaboration with her sister Khushali Kumar who plays the lead role in the video.
In her recent interaction with News Nation, the singing sensation got candid about her latest single, her chemistry with sister Khushali and her father Gulshan Kumar's upcoming biopic Mogul.
Here are the excerpts from the interview:
Q: What was the concept and idea behind your latest single Ik Yaad Purani?
When I started working on this single, I wanted to do something different from what I have done before. I met Jashan Singh, who is my co-singer in the song and he gave me a hook like 'ik yaad purani hai teri meri kahani hai' and that's how we developed the entire song. I wanted it to be the song that caters Punjabi and Bollywood audience.
Q: We have recently seen a trend in the industry, where the singers are more into have a single than the entire music album, what is your take on it?
I think the concept of albums has taken a backseat now. I myself had cut an album in 2009 when I had just started my career. While the album has around 7-8 songs, we eventually shoot just one or two songs. So I think the whole concept of singles are now picking up because you have song that you completely focussed on. I think it is a great concept. This trend was earlier there in West but now it has come here and independent singles are getting recognition too.
Q: How was your experience of shooting with Khushali?
That's always amazing. When sisters come together the whole energy is lifted and with Khushali I share a great rapport in terms of work. This our fourth single together in last two years and it feels really good. Ever our fans like seeing us together.
Q: Is Khushali planning to venture in Bollywood anytime soon?
There is something on the cards but she will eb the right person to reveal it.
Q: Can you tell us something about your father Gulshan Kumar's upcoming biopic Mogul?
The talks of the movie have been going on for a while as this has been on Bhushan's mind since a long time. This is the story that everyone has been looking forward to see on the big screen and to know the journey of my father, how he made from rags to riches and made such a huge empire single handedly. It is a very emotional subject for the entire family and I am really really looking forward to it
