Not the one to shy away from public display of affection for his loved ones, Ranveer Singh gave a special mention to rumoured girlfriend Deepika Padukone at the IIFA ceremony, saying she makes him the happiest.
While accepting his best actor honour at the 17th IIFA awards here for “Bajirao Mastani”, the actor could not resist himself from mentioning Deepika, calling her a “special person”.
“There is another special person I must thank. I was moved by her performance. She is the Leeela to my Ram, Mastani to my Bajirao and I don’t know what’s next. Girl, you are so fine. Nothing makes me happier than you, I mean winning an award here with you,” Ranveer said.
Earlier in the evening, Deepika performed to her songs from “Bajirao Mastani”—“Mohe Rang Do Laal”, “Deewani Mastani” and also “Bajne De Dhadak Dhadak”, which featured Ranveer.
Ranveer could not contain his excitement to see Deepika’s power-packed performance on the number and stood up cheering her as she finished her set.
While, Deepika hinted at a special someone while accepting her best actress award for “Piku”, in which she played a cranky daughter, who lives with her hypochondriac father.
She thanked several people including writers and the unsung heroes of the film industry like the technicians. But before leaving the stage she did not forget to take a moment and thank the “special person” in her life.
“I want to thank Juhi (Chaturvedi, ‘Piku’ writer) who made my performance worthwhile. I thank all spot boys, light men who work so hard behind thescenes. I also thank my team and that special person, you know who you are,” the actress said.
The duo have been rumoured to be dating since 2013 after working together on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Ram Leela”.
