After a lot of fracas over the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat, the first week for the Deepika Padukone-starrer finally concluded on a glorious note on Friday.
The film which opened with humungous numbers on January 25 worldwide, begins its week 2 with a BANG.
The magnum opus has managed to earn a stupendous amount of Rs 10.25 crore on Day 8 and is expected to bag another Rs 35 crore at the end of the week.
The royal drama is also set to cross the lifetime biz of Bajirao Mastani taking its total to a whopping amount of Rs 200 cr anytime soon.
Moreover, Padmaavat has already shattered box office records of several blockbusters like Baahubali 2, PK, Dangal in both domestic and international markets.
In short, the magnum opus has refused to die down despite being blocked in certain Indian states. The massive protests by Karni Sena have simply failed to dampen the spirits of this Bhansali directorial.
The film has even lost out on approximately Rs 50 crore due to no screening in certain Indian states like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana and Gujarat. However, its international performance is REMARKABLE specially in Australia and North America.

Interestingly, in a major push on Saturday, the Shri Rajput Karni Sena finally decided to withdraw the protests against this Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial.
Quite unexpectedly the fringe group has taken a complete U-turn over its earlier stance stating that Padmaavat glorifies the valour of the Rajputs.

Based on the 16th-century Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s epic poem 'Padmavat', the movie is further expected to witness a ROCK-SOLID business since there are no major releases anytime soon. It will be no wonder if Padmaavat emerges as the highest grossing movie of Bhansali of all times.
Padmaavat features Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati while Ranveer Singh has done all the justice with his character as Alauddin Khilji. Shahid Kapoor essays the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh, Rani Padmavati's husband. The film also stars Jim Sarbh, Aditi Rao Hydari and Raza Murad in supporting roles.
