Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are grinning ear to ear and they have got all the reasons to do so as their recent release Padmaavat has entered the coveted Rs 100 crore club.

Helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Padmaavat has been one of the most controversial movies of Indian cinema, which faced severe protests over its release.

But the entire controversy over Padmaavat has managed to keep the nation agog and the movie has set the box office on fire with a stupendous collection of Rs 114 crore in its opening weekend.

Overwhelmed with the response from the audience, Ranveer-Deepika are in a mood to celebrate and thanked the fans for their support.

Talking about the same, Ranveer Singh was quoted as saying "As an artiste, I feel fulfilled. Honestly, it's a relief to be validated in this way. It's overwhelming and humbling to witness the kind of reaction that the film and my performance has received."

On the other hand, Deepika Padukone, who essayed the role of Queen Padmavati, said that it is time to celebrate.

"At this point I am not thinking about the last three months. The last three days have been so overwhelming that nothing else matters. I am in a mood to celebrate. I am grateful for all the love and support," Deepika was quoted as saying.

Indeed, it is a great relief for the entire team of Padmaavat, given that the movie has been facing endless hurdles in the form of protest and death threats by a group called the Karni Sena since shooting began. The protests continue even now, and some states have even banned it.

The period drama is based on the 16th century epic "Padmavat" by poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi. The Sena has alleged that it distorts history and undermines Rajput valor - claims denied by the filmmakers.

While Ranveer Singh played the role of antagonist Allauddin Khilji, Padmaavat also stars Shahid Kapoor in the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh.
