Ranveer Singh, who was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat, has become the favorite villain of the industry. The actor has won hearts with the portrayal antagonist Alauddin Khilji.
His performance in Bhansali's period drama is termed as one of this best acts till time.
However, not many are aware of the fact that Ranveer, who is Bhansali's current favorite, wasn't the director's first choice for the role of Khilji in Padmaavat.
According to a report published in DNA, Bhansali was keen to cast superstar Shah Rukh Khan as Alauddin Khilji.
Reportedly, Bhansali even had a word with SRK about the same. However, King Khan turned down the offer after which the role went to Ranveer Singh.
Wondering why Shah Rukh refuse to play Khilji in Padmaavat?
As per the DNA report, SRK turned down Padmaavat owing to his professional commitments.
"Shah Rukh told Sanjay that he wouldn’t be able to spare time because he had given Aanand his word. When some people close to him suggested that he could easily do two films simultaneously, SRK apparently refused saying he didn’t wish to spread himself too thin," a source reportedly told DNA.
Well, taking Ranveer Singh on board for Alauddin Khilji was indeed a wise decision by Bhansali and we can't thank him more for that.
Apart from Ranveer Singh, Bhansali's Padmaavat also stars Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor.
The movie has made a commendable collections of over Rs 260 crore at the box office.
