After courting a lot of controversies for over a year, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's periodic drama Padmaavat finally hit the theatres on January 25, 2018.
The film, featuring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles has opened with a massive response at the box office and maintained the momentum even on the day seven.
The Deepika-starrer managed to mint Rs 12.25 crore on day 7, taking its overall box office collection to a stupendous amount of Rs 149 crore.
Moreover, Padmaavat has already shattered box office records of several blockbusters like Baahubali 2, PK, Dangal and many others in both domestic and international markets.
In short, the magnum opus has refused to die down despite being blocked in certain Indian states. The massive protests by Karni Sena have simply failed to dampen the spirits of this Bhansali directorial.
Right from the grand set to the impeccable performances of the actors, Padmaavat has earned rave reviews from all the corners.
Also starring Jim Sarbh, Aditi Rao Hydari and Raza Murad in supporting roles, the movie is doing wonders in Australia. Padmaavat has already crossed A$ 2 million in the island country.

Based on the 16th-century Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s epic poem 'Padmavat', the movie has been mired in controversies even before its release.
Several Rajput groups like Karni Sena accused the makers of distorting the historical facts and a rumoured dream sequence between Khilji and Padmini has given birth to a lot of controversies ever since Bhansali started its shooting in Rajasthan.
However, after a few bumps in the road, the movie is now going smooth and we would not be surprised if Padmaavat manages to emerge as one of the highest grossing Indian movies of all times.
