PadMan which released in 2750 screens in the country is inspired by the life of social activist Arunachalam Murugnantham. For the uninitiated Arunachalam invented low-cost sanitary napkins for the women in rural areas.
The ‘Airlift’ actor played the character of Lakshmikant Chauhan in the socially relevant film.Â

The makers of the flick adopted an aggressive strategy where Akshay Kumar introduced the Padman challenge. The 'Rustom' actor asked others to post a picture with a sanitary napkin in hand and also nominate others for the challenge. The strategy was quite successful and even B-town stars like Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff were part of it.
