BJP'S Chittorgarh MP CP Joshi has written to Home Minister Rajnath Singh requesting him to allow Padmavati to release only after it has been shown to the members of Mewar's royal family and historians.
It is believed that the proposal has been agreed to by the concerned parties. It is reported that the film will be banned if any of the concerned parties object to it after the screening.
The film has been shrouded in many controversies. A few days back, Karni Sena and Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists were held for allegedly vandalising a rangoli inspired by Padmavati at a mall in Surat.
Earlier this month, Maharashtra Tourism Minister Jaykumar Rawal had demanded a ban on Padmavati. Rawal said he was a descendant of the clan of Rawal Ratan Singh, Rani Padmavati’s husband.
“History and historical references are being twisted in this film. A legal disclaimer is being inserted just to save one’s skin.
“I have told Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis how facts are being twisted and passed off as history. You cannot take liberty with history and the film needs to be banned. We even intend to move the Centre over the Rajput community’s demand for a ban on the film,” Rawal said.
Hollywood actor Ruby Rose had come out in support of Deepika with whom she appeared in "xXx: Return of Xander Cage".
"I am in shock at reading what my dear friend is going through but in absolute awe of her strength and courage.
"Deepika you are one of the strongest women I know," Rose tweeted.
