One of the much-awaited film of the year ‘Padmavati’ is in controversy since its inception. Rajput community have been alleging director and write of the film Sanjay Leela Bhansali for distorting facts, thereby hurting their sentiments.
Everyone associated with the film has already clarified that there is has been no misrepresentation of the actual facts. The female lead Deepika Padukone who is playing the role of Rani Padmini has kept herself away from answering the questions regarding the issue until now.
But, finally Deepika broke her silence and spoke on the controversy and said, "It's appalling, it's absolutely appalling. What have we gotten ourselves into? And where have we reached as a nation? We have regressed. The only people we are answerable to is the censor board, and I know and I believe that nothing can stop the release of this film’’.
Recently, Supreme Court also rejected a plea seeking a stay on the release of the film and asked CBFC to consider reasonable aspects before granting a certificate.
Speaking on opportunity to play the role of Rani Padmini in the film, Deepika said, "As a woman, I feel proud to be a part of this film, and to tell this story, which needs to be told. And it needs to be told now’’.
Helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, ‘Padmavati’ also features Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead and is slated to release on December 1 worldwide.
