The makers have finally released the first look poster of Sanjay Dutt in Ashutosh Gowariker's next period drama Panipat. The actor looks fierce and intense as Afghan ruler Ahmad Shah Abdali in the new poster. Sanjay Dutt took to social media to share the poster with a caption that read, "Ahmad Shah Abdali - Death strikes where his shadow falls. Panipat trailer out tomorrow. #PanipatLook."

The film also stars Arjun Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in prominent roles. While Arjun will be seen playing the role of Sadashiv Rao Bhau, Kriti Sanon will portray the role of his wife Parvati Bai. Just two days back, Arjun had treated fans to the first poster of Panipat. "Come Witness The Battle That Changed History, #Panipat. In Cinemas December 6th," read his caption.

Talking about the film, Kriti recently told PTI, "It is a great story that needs to be told. I like the character of Parvati Bai, especially the way Ashu sir has written it. It did attract me as I have never done something like this before. I was initially confused like how come he thought of me to play this Marathi girl because I am a North Indian, Punjabi.''

"I was a little surprised. But I did not want to let go of the opportunity to do a period film with a director, who is a legend in that space. It is very different from what I have done and so it becomes exciting and challenging at the same time. That is how you break certain barriers," she added.

Apart from Sanjay, Arjun, and Kriti, Panipat also stars Padmini, Zeenat, Mohnish Bahl, Mir Sarwar, Nawab Shah and Kunal Kapoor in lead roles. The film, which is based on third battle of Panipat, will hit the screens on December 6, 2019.
