Rajasthan Police on Friday registered a case against TV actress and reality star Payal Rohatgi for making objectionable comments against the family of freedom fighter Motilal Nehru. Youth Congress leader Charmesh Sharma filed a complaint against Rohtagi who is known for controversial statements on social media. The case has been registered under Sections 66 & 67 of IT Act.

Now Payal has responed to the case registered against her. In a video shared by the Twitter handle named Payal Rohatgi & Team- Bhagwan Ram Bhakts, she could be heard saying, ''I love my country and whoever loves India, I love them. I want to fight for my country till the end and I am against those who believe in dividing the country. This is what I feel. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat''

The same Twitter handle posted several tweets and a video on the personal life of freedom fighter Motilal Nehru, the father of first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru. In the post, Payal had alleged that Motilal Nehru had 5 wives. She had made this claim quoting a biography of M.O. Mathai written by Edina Ramakrishna. Mathai was an Indian Civil Service officer and had served as the Private Secretary of Jawaharlal Nehru.

Earlier in June, Rohtagi was under fire for allegedly making derogatory statements for Maratha leader Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) had called for action against her, saying that the actor made an outrageous statement against Shivaji.

In a letter to the Mumbai Police, the NCP wrote that Rohtagi’s tweet intended to foment tension in the society.

A day earlier a Mumbai-based lawyer filed a complaint against Rohtagi demanding that a case be registered for “spreading communal hatred through her social media posts”.
