New Delhi:

The official trailer of the upcoming controversial biopic PM Narendra Modi, which was released in March, has suddenly gone missing from the internet. The trailer, which chronicles the journey of pM Modi, has been removed from various platforms such as Google and YouTube.

If you type words like ''pm modi biopic trailer'' on YouTube, you will see the message, ''This video is unavailable''. Here is the screenshot:

The trailer has been possibly taken down after the Election Commission's order staying the release of the film. In its order, the Election Commission had said "any poster or publicity material concerning any such certified content, which either depicts a candidate (including prospective) for the furtherance (or purported to further) of electoral prospect, directly or indirectly, shall not be put to display in electronic media in the area where MCC (model code of conduct) is in operation. (sic)"

The film, which was initially slated to hit the screens on April 12, was brought ahead to April 5. The film has been under the scanner for allegedly violating the model code of conduct in view of the Lok Sabha elections. The opposition raised objections to the release of the film on April 5 as it was just a week before the elections. After that, the makers announced that they were releasing the film on April 11, but on April 10, the Election Commission put a stay on the release.

On Monday, the Supreme Court directed the Election Commission to watch the film and review its decision.

Meanwhile, lead actor of the film Vivek Oberoi had slammed those raising issue against the political drama. I don't understand why some people are overreacting like this. “Why are such senior and famous lawyers like Abhishek Singhvi ji and Kapil Sibal ji wasting time on filing a PIL on such a modest film? Don't know if they are scared of the film or of Chowkidar's 'danda',” Oberoi was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
