Priya Prakash Varrier, who became a household name after her ‘wink-video’ went viral last year has made some shocking claims. While the nation swooned about the newest internet sensation with her video of an innocent high school, shy crush, which she and Roshan Abdul Rahoof perfectly captured, for the upcoming movie, Oru Adaar Love, Varrier, despite all the popularity, claims that she was put under house arrest for her safety.
The young actress and her family claim that they did not foresee the aftermath of viral video popularity with the tremendous attention they were getting and was even worried for her safety. Sitting down with Indian Express, Priya opened up about the ‘wink girl’ tag and how it affected her daily life even to a point that she had to be kept under house arrest.

Priya said, “We were trying to handle it together. Because everything was new to me as well as my family. It is true that I was not given cell phones or anything. For a few days I was under house arrest and I was not allowed to go out because my parents were tensed. The media people would turn up at my door without even informing.”
The 19-year-old, Oru Adaar actress also added about how her regular life was affected with the continuous tail of media behind her back. Priya however, caught herself in another net of controversy for her what was supposed to be her Bollywood debut movie, Sridevi Bungalow, which many claims were based on the life of the late actor, Sridevi. Following the controversy and the lawsuit filed against her and the director, Mampully, the release of the film has been withheld.
