Priyanka Chopra, who has been in headlines recently for her marriage to American singer Nick Jonas, has again garnered more appreciations after being placed #94 on Forbes’ List of 100 Most Powerful Women in 2018. The Bollywood diva is among the only four Indians who have made it to the top 100 list, topped by outgoing German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Taking to Instagram, Priyanka wrote, “Thank you Forbes! Honoured to be a part of such an exclusive and illustrious list of Power Women in the world for the second time. It's a reminder to stay hungry, keep pushing the status quo and continuing to do what I love. And on that note... back to work."

The 27-year-old HCL CEO Roshni Malhotra, Mazumdar Shaw – the founder of India’s largest biopharmaceutical firm in 1978, and HT Media’s editorial director Shobhana Bhartia share the space on the list along with Priyanka.

The Bollywood actor is best-known across Hollywood for her US big-screen debut with 2017 release Baywatch. Priyanka further became the first Indian star to lead a drama series on American television as the former star of ABC’s Quantico. The actor has launched her own Mumbai-base production company Purple Pebble pictures, to promote regional filmmakers and rising Indian talent.

The list also holds names such as Queen Elizabeth II, Serena Williams, Sheryl Sandberg, Christine Lagarde and Melinda Gates.

Priyanka’s position has been moved up three placed from last, from #97 to #94.

The actor was trending all over the quarters for her extravagant wedding ceremonies with Nick in Jodhpur’s Umaid Bhawan Palace. Their marriage has been a beautiful amalgamation of two cultures, two religions, and moreover two countries.

Earlier in the day, a recent article in New York Times’ The Cut (now deleted) has garnered a huge flak for its take on the Priyanka-Nick marriage. The Cut article (now deleted) wrote poorly of their marriage. As reported in Hindustan Times, it called Priyanka a “global scam artist” whose PR machinery was looking out for a romance for her. It said that while Nick was only looking for “a fling” with Hollywood’s latest “It woman”, the American singer was looking straight at a “life sentence”.

However, Priyanka has responded to this defaming article, giving it no importance at all. According to her, she did not want to react to such “random things”. In a report published by the Hindustan Times, she said, “I don’t even want to react or comment. It’s not even in my stratosphere. I’m in a happy place at this moment. These kind of random things can’t disturb it.”

On the work front, Priyanka is currently busy with her upcoming film The Sky Is Pink, co-starring Farhan Akhtar. The film is directed by Shonali Bose.
