Qarib Qarib Singlle Movie Review: Irrfan Khan, Parvathy’s chemistry will charm you!

Directed by Tanuja Chandra, the romantic comedy flick stars Irrfan Khan and Parvathy in lead roles. The story of the film revolves mainly around the two-character Jaya and Yogi who goes on a short journey and end up in the most eventful, strange, crazy trip of their lives.

During their journey, they miss trains, taxis and cross beautiful cities such as Rishikesh, Bikaner and Gangtok. In the quarrel and self-discovery, the path of both Jaya and Yogi swept away.

NDTV: A light-hearted traipse through loves lost and lives interrupted, Tanuja Chandra's Qarib Qarib Singlle - yes, it is single with double 'l' - isn't anywhere near qarib qarib perfect. But give or take a few stray missteps, it is an elegantly crafted, languidly paced film that puts a delightfully off-kilter, mellow spin on the conventions of the rom-com. In fact, given its unusual narrative arc in which nothing seems to be happening by way of overt action and plot progression, Qarib Qarib Singlle is a difficult film to slot in any single genre.

The Indian Express - Qarib Qarib Singlle is a road movie-cum-coming-of-age romance, with a bittersweet tang to it, and yet it is peppy, and fun and fresh: two adults, a man and a woman, connect via a dating site, and find that online, can, sometimes, translate into something vital and real, offline.

Chalk Yogi (Irrfan) and Cheese Jaya (Parvathy) meet by design, but there’s nothing constructed about the journey they undertake, even though the reason of their setting out is so flimsy as to be laughable.

At the end of it, you hope that their relationship status will change to Kareeb Kareeb Couple. I walked out smiling, and sighing. With pleasure.

Hindustan Times - The movie tells the story of two adults who embark upon a journey and discover themselves in the process. It begins with Jaya (Parvathy), a work-obsessed 35-year-old widow who carries her understated personality in pastel dresses. While she rules her workplace, Jaya lacks confidence when it comes to her personal life. She shies away from meeting people, dedicates her Sundays to baby-sitting, and tries to please everybody around her.
