Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon starrer 'Raabta' will finally hit the theatres on the scheduled date as the producers of 'Magadheera' have withdrawn their case.
It was reported that 'Magadheera' producer Allu Arvind has alleged that the 'Raabta' makers had used a similar plot for their movie and filed a case of copyright infringement against the Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon-starrer reincarnation drama.
The S S Rajamouli-directed film, based on the theme of reincarnation, featured Ram Charan and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead.
On the other hand, 'Raabta', a romantic thriller directed by Dinesh Vijan, also revolves around the theme of reincarnation and is co- produced by Homi Adajania and Bhushan Kumar.
"There is no out of court settlement. They were misguided. Day before yesterday they presented their case and yesterday we presented our case and our counsel argued that both the films are not similar. This morning they withdrew the case," Dinesh Vijan, director of 'Raabta', told PTI.
A statement from 'Magadheera' producer Allu Arvind confirmed that they had withdrawn the case.
"...both the parties representing Magadheera and Raabta have settled the ongoing legal dispute amicabally outside the court. Hence, Geetha Arts has officially withdrawn the case," the statement from Aravind read.
'Raabta' filmmakers claimed that the similarities, if any, were generic to every film made on reincarnation of two lovers such as Prem, Hamesha, Om Shanti Om and Kudrat.
Dinesh had earlier said that he was a huge fan of Rajamouli and would never copy his film.
