Ajay Devgn and Ileana D’Cruz starrer Raid has been making waves ever since the trailer was unveiled by the makers. The much-awaited film from the stable of T-series and Panorama Studios hit the silver screens on March 16.
Trade pundits were expecting a super show from the film and Raid proved them right. The Raj Kumar Gupta directorial opened on a positive note and minted Rs 10.04 crore on the first day itself.
The flick earned rave reviews from critics for its crispy storyline and impeccable performances of the lead actors. The good reviews and positive publicity are expected to help the film set the box office on fire.
Popular Bollywood critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the first day collection of the film on Twitter.
After an ordinary start in morning shows, #Raid jumped post noon onwards... Evening/night shows saw super growth... A double digit start for a non-masala, realistic film is heartening... Strong word of mouth should boost numbers on Sat and Sun... Fri ₹ 10.04 cr. India biz.— taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) March 17, 2018
Raid which features Ajay Devgn in the role of a fearless and no-nonsense Income Tax Officer was shot in Lucknow and Raebareli. The film that opened across 3,400 screens in India showcased one of most high-profile income tax raids in the country.
Interestingly, the masala entertainer has emerged as the third highest opener of Bollywood in 2018 after Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh starrer Padmaavat and Akshay Kumar’s PadMan.
Ajay Devgn’s last release Golmaal Again smashed all records and collected over Rs 200 crore at the domestic office. It wouldn’t be surprising if Raid manages to rake in big moolah just like the Rohit Shetty directorial.
