On Thursday the Maharashtra Police registered an FIR against Raj Kundra and actress Shilpa Shetty in a cheating case in Thane's Bhiwandi Police Station.
The couple allegedly duped a textile firm owner of Bhiwandi MIDC Bhalotia Exports Company, Ravi Bhalotia of Rs. 24 lakh. The FIR was filed after the owner accused that the couple collected the amount on his behalf but did not pay him.
When asked about this, Kundra denied the fact and stated on Friday “the vendor is misusing his connections in various stations. This is a civil matter and an abuse of the law. We have tight contracts signed and on the contrary, the vendor owes us money for not fulfilling orders. Beat deal is unfortunately being wound up due to the business failing and we are following the laws of the land to close the various matters properly,”

The businessman also added that his wife Shilpa Shetty's name has been dragged unnecessarily in order to create media hypes.
He says that Shilpa has nothing to do with the business.“It’s sad that at every step of the way, my wife’s name is dragged in to create media hype. She was a non-executive, who had nothing to do with the daily running of the business,” he said.
Big Deals, a company in which Shetty and Kundra are directors, collected money from customers for sale of bedsheets on behalf of Malotia Textiles through TV ads, but did not (allegedly) pay Malotia Textiles the proceeds,” the official said.
