Considered by many as a 'cinematic revolution' in terms of visuals, graphics, 4D SRL sound, the Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starter 2.0 even after two months of its release continues to be at the forefront. The sci-fi movie which was released last November 29, has been chosen for a major international award-The Golden Reel Award, an award which is one of the most sought-after in the fields of sound and editing.
2.0 has been nominated in the prestigious Golden Reel Award for their ground-breaking editing in the Foreign Feature Film category. Resul Pookutty, the sound designer, editor and mixer for the magnum opus took the brilliant news on social media. He tweeted, "Absolutely delighted to announce #2Point0 is nominated for the highest recognition in Sound Design, Golden Reel Award at @mpseorg in the USA, I ’m elated... The use of the 4D SRL sound in 2.0. by Resul Pookutty, was the first time technology of this kind was introduced in the Indian cinema.

Shankar’s sci-fi magnum-opus 2.0 which saw Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth in the lead roles was the most expensive film ever made with a budget of over Rs 500 crores. The Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer is also the second highest grossing Hindi dubbed film of all time after SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion'.
