Bollywood filmmakers has been bitten by the remake bug. After films like Agneepath, Don made dair business at the box office, directors are now shifting their focus to cult comedy films. A while back, it was announced that the classic 1978 film Pati Patni Aur Woh will be remade with Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday. Now, if reports are to be believed, another cult comedy film from back in the days is all set to be remade and it is none other than Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan’s 1975 comedy flick, Chupke Chupke.
As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, the classic comedy is being remade by producers Bhushan Kumar and Luv Ranjan of Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety fame and the Rajkumaar Rao has been roped in to play the lead role of Dharmendra aka Professor Parimal Tripathi aka Pyarelal.
The 80s film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore, Jaya Bachcha, Om Prakash among others. Chupke Chupke is again the remake of the Bengali film Chhadmabeshi, it was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, based on Upendranath Ganguly's Bengali story Chhadobeshi with the dialogue penned by Gulzar.The rest of the cast for the remake is yet to finalised. But, as of now, Rajkummar is roped in to play Dharmendra’s dual role.
The source close to the fimmakers revealed to the tabloid, “Chupke Chupke is an iconic film and a favourite of many, including Rajkummar. He loved the idea of a remake and has agreed to come on board. It will have Raj in the dual avatars. The script is still being finalised, while the director and the rest of the cast are yet to be locked but the team is really excited about this one.”
Luv Ranjan is currently working over the script of action thriller featuring Ajay Devgn and Ranbir kapoor. According to sources, Deepika Padukone is expected to reunite with Ranbir after Yeh Jawani Hai deewani for the film.
Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao will be seen with Kangana Ranaut in Mental Hai Kya. The film is helmed by Prakash Kovelamudi and is being produced by Balaji Motion Pictures. After much delay Mental Hai Kya is slated to release on June 21, 2019. The actor will also be seen in horror comedy Rooh-Afza up next
