Rajkummar Rao to play goon in his next horror comedy (Twitter)
After the hue commercial success of Stree, actor Rajkummar Rao has signed another untitled project which is slated to be a horror comedy. The movie is to be directed by Mrigdeep Singh Lamba, who also helmed comedy flick Fukrey. Bankrolled by Dinesh Vijan, who also produced Stree and is currently working with Rajkummar on Made In China.
In a statement, Dinesh said, “Raj plays a small-time goon whose plans go haywire when he discovers that he might be in store for some supernatural encounters. You can be sure he will be as riveting as Stree’s ladies’ tailor, chasing after a ghost’’.
‘’Though Raj has proved his comic timing in films like ‘Bareilly...’ and ‘Stree’, here he will have to shed every bit of himself and get into the skin of this self-proclaimed village hero, who is actually a fool’’, he added.

The movie will be extensively shot in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad and will also feature Varun Dharam in pivotal role. The untitled project is scheduled to roll in from next year and is slated to release in early 2020.
The story of the movie revolves around two village idiots who get stuck in a frightful situation but their fool-hardy shenanigans never stop. The director of the film feels that Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma are a ‘stellar combination’ that nobody has explored.
However, there is no sign of female lead as of now and the makers are still exploring the perfect face for the role and as per the director the role of female lead will be ‘’the focal point and game changer for the film’’.
On December 16, Rajkummar Rao also won the Best Popular Actor (Male) award at the 25th annual Star Screen Awards for Stree. The Best Actor Award (Male) was won by Ranveer Singh for Padmaavat and Best Actor Award (Female) has been won by Alia Batt for Raazi.
Rajkummar also took to Instagram to share the picture with the trophy and wrote, ‘’Thank you #StarScreenawards2018 for honouring me with the Best Actor (Popular) for #Stree. Thank you, my most wonderful team Stree. #Gratitude’’.
