Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s relationship has been the talk of the town for quite some time now. After being in a steady relationship for more than two years, the lovebirds are reportedly all set to tie the knot after the release of their upcoming film Brahmastra on December 4, 2020. According to Rajeev Masand’s column in Open magazine, the preparations for Ranbir and Alia’s wedding are already in full swing and their extended families have been asked to save the date.

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor love affair reportedly started while they were shooting for Brahmastra. In an interview with Firstpost, Alia had revealed that she pleaded with director Ayan Mukerji to cast her opposite Ranbir in Brahmastra. ''The idea for Brahmastra was conceived long back when Ayan had just done Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. I wanted to work with him and I have always wanted to work with Ranbir as well. I pleaded to Ayan that please cast me with him,'' she had said.

In another interview, Alia had said, "It’s beautiful. I’m walking on stars and clouds right now. The best part is that we’re two individuals who are living our own professional lives in its full form right now. He’s shooting continuously. So am I. It’s not a situation where you’ll see us constantly together. That’s the true mark of a comfortable relationship. Nazar na lage."

Alia Bhatt's father Mahesh Bhatt also told The Telegraph in an interview last year that he loved Ranbir.  ''Well, of course they’re in love. You don’t need to be a genius to get that! I love Ranbir… he’s a great guy. What they do to their relationship is something they’ll have to figure out. Whether it’s heading towards that port called 'marriage' — which is an institution that needs to be questioned in the second decade of the 21st century — is something for them to figure out,'' the filmmaker said.

On the work front, Alia is currently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi, in which she plays a mafia queen. She will also star Karan Johar’s epic historical drama Takht, which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor.

Ranbir, on the other hand, will be next seen in Shamshera alongside Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor. The film is set in the 1800s and chronicles the story of a dacoit tribe fighting for their right and independence from the British.
