In a tragic incident, veteran filmmaker and actress Rani Mukherjee's father Ram Mukherjee has breathed his last on Sunday. According to reports, Ram was suffering from some serious health issues since last few days and died in the wee hours of Sunday. The director was 84 at the time of his death.
Ram Mukherjee's wife Krishna Mukherjee who is currently plunged into darkness said, "His blood pressure dropped suddenly and he was admitted to Breach Candy hospital where doctors declared him dead at 5 am. He was doing fine earlier and this was sudden," reported Indian Express.
There are reports that the cremation of Ram's body is set to take place at 2 pm.
Ram Mukerji is one of the founders of Filmalaya Studios in Mumbai. Hum Hindustani and Leader are two of his famous works which helped him to manage a permanent place in hearts of millions.

Ram had launched Rani Mukerji in the Bengali film Biyer Phool in the year 1996. The movie also starred Prosenjit Chatterjee in the lead role of the film.
