Padmaavat box office collection day 2: Ranveer-Deepika's royal drama witnesses HUMONGOUS numbers

Despite facing severe protests across the country, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmaavat has witnessed stupendous growth at the box office and has managed to cross Rs 50 crore within two days of release.

Starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in the lead, Padmaavat was released amidst much of the controversies which even led to a delay in the release of the movie.

But looks like the intense protests by the fringe groups have failed to dampen the spirits of this royal drama.

Although the film hasn't witnessed a smooth release in some parts of the country, Padmaavat is going strong at the box office.

Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office collection of Padmaavat on micro-blogging site Twitter and said that the movie is getting humongous numbers.

He tweeted, "#Padmaavat has a HUMONGOUS Day 2... Had it been a smooth release , the all-India biz would’ve touched ₹ 40 cr... Wed 5 cr, Thu 19 cr, Fri 32 cr. Total: ₹ 56 cr. India biz… SUPERB!"

Indeed, it is a happy news for the makers given that Padmaavat has been mired with controversies since its inception.

"We are humbled by the response we have received for Padmaavat. Over 1 million Indians have already watched the film and occupancy levels for shows are very strong across more than 4000 screens with most running house-full. The feedback for the film has been overwhelming," a spokesperson of the production house said in a statement.

"We are hopeful that every Indian across all states - will get a chance to see the film especially as we celebrate our great nation's 69th Republic Day," the spokesperson added.

Interestingly, with such a warm response by the audience, Padmaavat has managed to Padmaavat has managed to beat the box office collection of Akshay Kumar's Toilet-Ek Prem Katha and Varun Dhawan starrer Judwaa 2, which had made a business of Rs 30.2 crore and Rs 36.65 crore, respectively after two days of release.

On the other hand, with the movie having a long weekend ahead, it is expected that Padmaavat will break many more records with a week.
