After dating for six long years, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh tied the nuptial knot on November 14 and 15 in Italy’s Lake Como. The dreamy wedding affair was followed by a grand reception at Padukone’s hometown, Bengaluru, and two receptions in Mumbai that saw some of Bollywood’s biggest stars, from Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor Khan to Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma and many more, in attendance.
For all those who don’t know, Anushka and Ranveer dated for a brief period while shooting for Band Baja Baarat and have remained good friends since then. They have starred together in many films such as Dil Dhadakne Do and Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl. Ranveer, while speaking about her and Katrina's presence at the wedding, told Famously Filmfare, "It was so beautiful & warm that both Anushka & Katrina turned out for my wedding. They weren't there for the sake of it. They were there to wish us well, which was a really lovely gesture. It was very significant & special for me that Anushka came. It meant a lot to me. It really did."
For the unversed, a cold war brewed between Deepika and Katrina when the former had made it very clear on the chat show, BFFs with Vogue that she wouldn’t invite Katrina to her wedding. However, the two have now buried the hatchet and even started following each other on Twitter.
On the work front, Ranveer is currently basking in the success of his latest release, Simmba. The cop drama has become his biggest opener and has crossed Rs 200 mark in just 15 days. On the other hand, Deepika will soon start shooting for Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak, which is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.
