Raveena Tandon opens up on Akshay Kumar National Award controversy

Akshay Kumar's recent win at National Film Awards has sparked a controversy in the nation. And while everyone is buzzing with views over the matter actress Raveena Tandon has voiced her opinion in favour of the 'Airlift' actor. Raveena, who happens to be one of Akki's rumoured ex-girlfriend, has supported the actor and stated that people who don't win an award often ends up creating a controversy.

She also refuted reports of National award loosing its credibility.

“I don’t think so, why should it lose its dignity, every year there is a controversy. People who don’t win create the controversy,” Raveena reportedly told an entertainment portal.

Reportedly, after Akshay's name was announced as the winner of National Film Award for Best Actor for his movie 'Rustom', several celebs hinted a foul play in the judgement.

In fact, renowned filmmaker openly criticised Kumar's win and said, “I have heard of all that and I will answer it in a simple way. When Ramesh Sippy was jury head, Amitabh Bachchan won. When Prakash Jha was head of jury, Ajay Devgn won. So none questioned at that time. So why all these questions are cropping up today.”

While the debate over Akshay winning a National award is still going rife, Raveena has certainly chosen her side.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that this rumoured ex-couple has got each other's back.

Earlier, the 'Rustom' actor too had lauded the 'Mast Mast' girl and admitted that it was a honour for him to share the screen space with Raveena.

On the work front, Raveena Tandon is currently gearing up for the release of her upcoming movie 'Maatr'.

Helmed by Ashtar Sayed, the movie is scheduled to release on April 21 and is said to be based on the menacing subjects of rape and molestation.
