John Abraham’s latest release Romeo Akbar Walter (RAW) which is based on the backdrop of India Pakistan war of 1971 has crossed Rs 30 crore mark in its first week. The movie is facing tough competition from Akshay Kumar’s Kesari which is all set to cross Rs 150 crore mark.
Robbie Grewal directorial flick earned a total Rs 33.1 crore in its first week which includes Rs 6 crore on Friday, Rs 7.70 crore on Saturday, Rs 9 crore on Sunday, Rs 3 crore on Monday Rs 2.6 crore on Tuesday, Rs 2.5 crore on Wednesday, Rs 2.3 crore on Thursday.
The plot of RAW revolves around a bank cashier who is recruited by India’s foreign intelligence agency - the Research and Analysis Wing. He served as a secret agent in PoK (Pakistan occupied Kashmir) during the events leading up to the 1971 Indo-Pak war which led to the liberation of Bangladesh.
Helmed by Robbie Grewal, RAW also features Mouni Roy, Raghubir Yadav, Sikander Kher and Suchitra Krishnamoorthi.
The music of RAW has been composed by Ankit Tiwari, Sohail Sen, Shabbir Ahmed and Raaj Aashoo and the lyrics have been penned by Shabbir Ahmed, Murli Agarwal, Prince Dubey and Ashok Punjabi.
Ahead of the movie’s release, trade analyst Girish Johar expected a good start for the film. He predicted its day one box office collection around Rs 6-6.5 crores.
Actor and Singer Suchitra Krishnamoorthy tweeted, "#Raw #RomeoAkbarWalter made my heart swell with patriotic pride. A true story an important story superbly told. Every Indian must watch this - not only for cinema but to celebrate our real life brave hearts who gave us the India as we know it today".
