With impressive castings, Kangana Ranaut starrer, Panga had a lot to look forward to. When the trailer dropped last week, the sports drama received tons of praises from movie goers with yet another impressive acting job from the leading lady. A new revelation however surfaced later on that Sacred Games Pankaj Tripathi was among chosen to be one of the casts in the sports drama but had to walk away from it.
A source from Mid-Day was reported saying, "Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari was keen to have Pankaj sir on board. She had approached him to play a crucial character, and he, too, had given his nod. Pankaj sir was expected to join the team in the Bhopal schedule in February. However, he already had his plate full with Mirzapur 2, Kagaz, ’83, Ludo, Mimi and Kargil Girl. So, he decided to bow out of the movie."
The news of Tripathi walking out of the project was later confirmed by the star himself who told the news portal,
"At that time, I was shooting for Kagaz, which is produced by Salman Khan Films and directed by Satish Kaushik. It would have been great to do Panga, but unfortunately, the dates didn’t work out."
Helmed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, the movie features Kangana as a Kabaddi player who had settled down for family alongside being a railway ticket executive. It also stars Richa Chaddha, Neena Gupta, Jassie Gill in prominent roles.
As of now, Ranaut’s Panga will clash with Varun Dhawan’s Street Dancer 3D on January 24.
