'Jagga Jasoos' debacle: Rishi Kapoor blames Anurag Basu for Ranbir-starrer's failure

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor has slammed filmmaker Anurag Basu for the debacle of 'Jagga Jasoos' starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in the lead. Rishi stated that it was because of Basu's 'irresponsible' approach for 'Jagga Jasoos' that the movie failed to survie at the box office.

Lashing out at the director in a recent public interview Rishi Kapoor has said, "I didn't hate or love the film. I only felt it needed to be abridged by 20 minutes. But who is going to give that opinion to them? He's such an irresponsible director that he doesn't complete the film. It was supposed to release three times in the past two years, but it kept getting delayed."

The Katrina Kaif starrer which has hit the screens on July 14, has failed to get a expected response from audience and hence struggling badly at the box office. After this latest disaster at box office, Ranbir's father seems to be in a rather annoying mood and left no stone unturned to make Anurag responsible for the failure of the movie. According to him the lack of time management is the only reason behind such a setback at the box office.

Talking about Ranbir's engagement in the film, Kapoor has said, "Ranbir is the producer too, and his neck is in the noose. Who the hell are you to do all this? It is ridiculous that a producer hadn't seen his product a day ahead of the film's release. You may be the biggest director in the world but nobody would like to work with you because you are irresponsible."

He did not even forget to mention how the 'irresponsible' director has chopped out Govinda's part in the final cut of the film.

"You even threw Govinda out of the film. If you don't want Govinda to work in your film, why did you ask him in the first place? Iss sab mein Ranbir ka naam toh kharaab hoga, aur kya? Mera kharaab hoga!( All these acts will defame Ranbir's and my name in the industry)," Rishi was quoted further while talking about the same.

Apart from these, he has made several other allegations against the maker of the film and was quoted saying, "Till Wednesday, Anurag Basu was still mixing the film. Can you imagine that? Pritam probably delivered the music only a week before. What can you say? You (here, Basu) don’t take an opinion from anybody."

"I totally agree with Ekta Kapoor when she threw him out from her film. He had problems with Rakesh Roshan while working on Kites (2010). He’s such an irresponsible director that he doesn’t complete the film. It was supposed to release three times in the past two years, but it kept getting delayed."

"I trusted you, and this is what you give us?"

"It did not release in Singapore because you have to deliver it five days in advance. It did not release in the Gulf on Thursday because it was only delivered to them on Thursday. This is unreasonable and irresponsible."

"Even Pritam delays his submissions. a kids’ film. But, a kids’ film also has to release at the right time, like during the school vacations."

Finally the actor concluded his speech by saying, "Everything is not just about creativity.”

We wonder what will be Ranbir's reactions to such a public criticism by his father and how Anurag will even response after receiving such a negative and weird remark from the actor.

On the work front, while Ranbir is busy shooting his other upcoming flims like 'Sanjay Dutt Biopic', 'Dragon', 'Mr. And Mrs. Tapori' and others, Rishi Kapoor has reunited with co-star Amitabh Bachchan for '102 Not Out' after decades of their last joined project 'Ajooba'.
