Saif Ali Khan’s recent release 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior' is doing a great job at the box office and earning much appreciations for his villainous role in the movie. Although the actor has refrained from making any controversial statement about the ongoing nationwide protests during the promotions of the movie, the actor still landed into trouble when in a recent interview he talked about the history of India and got brutally trolled by netizens.
Several reviewers’ pointed out discrepancies in the storyline and how the director took liberty with the history and stirred it towards populist political narrative, which Saif himself admitted to in an interview with Film Companion. Khan's statement, when asked about his stand on the politics of the film, as reported by News18: "For some reason I didn’t take a stand. Maybe next time I would. I was very excited to play the role because it’s a delicious role. But when people say this is history, I don’t think this is history. I am quite aware of what the history was. I don’t think there was a concept of India till perhaps the British gave it one. I don’t think there is really any constructive point in arguing about loudly, provided you yourself know why you’re doing it."
He was widely trolled on Twitter, with some even aiming potshots at his child Taimur.
Saif Ali Khan the self proclaimed historian has uttered some rubbish again. What were the British looking for when they came to our country. Bharat is one of the oldest civilizations of the world. He obviously cannot think beyond Taimur Ali Khan . Should be boycotted....

Ugly face of saif is visible to public
Now ðŸÅ½¯ðŸÅ½¯
But
This was evidently seen by us when he named his son az Taimur https://t.co/56JEMVmpzw— mahesh gupta (@maheshgupta_cio) January 20, 2020
We could ask both the student and the teacher what was the Kitab-al-Hind that the student's alleged ancestors in Baghdad were talking about in circa 900 CE? Always knew Saif was idiotic, which he confirmed by naming his son as Taimur - an Islamic bigot multiplied by a factor of n https://t.co/i0YIC48z4l

For Saif Ali khan it wasn’t. And neither for his family. They were the rulers and citizens of their own state getting milk powder and a lot more directly from London and god knows where. He still lives in the world before the British. No wonder the son is named Taimur.

Bollywood ‘history buff’ #SaifAliKhan claims “there was no concept of ‘India’ until the British came.”
Yeah right. French East India Company was about China & Vasco D’Gama went to Fiji.
Last time he invoked he invoked ‘history’ he named his son ‘Timur’

Yes, #SaifAliKhan is right. The concept of India was forced by Britishers who rules us. It was earlier BharatVarsh, which has a great history associated with the Great Ashoka.
Some people just want to be politically correct, not historical correct. Shame!! pic.twitter.com/Irbs7h7YY2— Naren Charan (@NarenCharan) January 20, 2020
