The Thane Police asked the Dabangg 2 director to join the probe in the wake of the arrest of Sonu Jalan, a high-profile bookie, who was involved in placing bets on the recent season of IPL.

Police arrested Sonu Jalan alias Sonu Malad and during the investigation, it came out that he was close to several people including Arbaaz Khan, Senior Inspector Pradeep Sharma, head of the Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) of Thane Police told PTI.

Arbaaz, who is Salman Khan’s younger brother has been asked to appear at Thane’s AEC office on Saturday.

“We suspect that Khan had placed bets on IPL matches and want to scrutinise his bank transactions,” a police officer told the news agency.

The Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon actor allegedly lost Rs 2.80 crore in IPL betting to Sonu Jalan, following which he received threats from the bookie, the official said.
