Superstar Salman Khan has been honoured with Global Diversity Award for the year 2017 at British House of Commons on Friday. He received the award for his contribution to Indian film industry as an actor, producer, television personality, singer and as a mentor.
The ‘Dabangg’ Khan received the award from Keith Vaz, who is British Parliament’s longest serving Indian-origin MP in Parliament.
She said, Salman Khan is a role model and a hero to millions of people worldwide. Besides his Indian cinema success, Salman is a well- known philanthropist and his NGO Being Human has done life changing work supporting the underprivileged in India. It is a tremendous honour to present him with the award. I am proud that young Asians worldwide have role models like Salman Khan’’.
On receiving such honour, the ‘Tubelight’ star said, “My father would never have believed that I would make it here. I would like to thank the fans for the respect that they have shown me. Although I have received many film awards, this is the first I have received personally so I am incredibly humbled’’.
Currently, Salman is in Britain for a tour titled ‘Da-Bangg Tour’, which will also feature stars like Sonakshi Sinha, Jacqueline Fernandez, Prabhudeva, Badshah and many more.
Besides Salman Khan, Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai, Hollywood action hero Jackie Chan and Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina has been the recipients of this award.
