Ever since filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani announced a biopic on Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, everyone has been eagerly waiting for the movie. But it looks like we'll have to wait a little longer before we could see Dutt's real life getting on the reel as the movie has been postponed. According to the recent buzz, Dutt's biopic which was earlier expected to release on Christmas this year has now been pushed to a 2018 release.
The announcement was made by Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who took it to micro-blogging site Twitter to share the release date of Sanjay Dutt's much awaited biopic. He wrote, "Sanjay Dutt biopic to release on 30 March 2018... Rajkumar Hirani directs... Stars Ranbir Kapoor... NOTE: Not titled yet."

Interestingly, there has been reports that the makers of Dutt's biopic chose to postpone the release of the movie as they didn't want it to witness a box office clash with Salman Khan's upcoming movie 'Tiger Zinda Hai' with Katrina Kaif which is slated to release on Christmas.

“This biopic is one of the most awaited films in recent times. We have to release it at a time when it can garner maximum eyeballs. We know Salman has a huge fan following, so it only made business sense to avoid the on-screen clash,” a source reportedly told a web portal.
However no official statement has been released regarding the reason behind the postponing of the release of the movie.
While Sanjay Dutt's biopic will feature Ranbir Kapoor in the lead, it also stars, Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal, Anushka Sharma, Dia Mirza, Karishma Tanna, Vicky Kaushal in key roles.
