Veteran actress Shabana Azmi, who was injured in an accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Saturday afternoon is out of any potential danger and will be shifted to regular ward from ICU, updates her husband Javed Akhtar.
On Wednesday, Akhtar took to his Twitter to thank the fans for their concern and also updated on Shabana Azmi's health. He tweeted, "Our family would like to thank all the friends and well wishers for their concern and messages for @AzmiShabana. This is to let everyone know that she is recovering well and most probably will be shifted to a normal room tomorrow."

Earlier in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the veteran lyricist has confirmed that Shabana is doing better and is stable. "Don’t worry. She is in the ICU but all the scan reports are positive. It seems there’s no serious harm done,'' he said. In addition, actor Satish Kaushik too visited Shabana Azmi at Kokilaben and that she was doing better. "Shabanaji is under strict observation. But she is doing much much better than yesterday. Prayers for her speedy recovery," he told IANS.
Earlier, the hospital's CEO Dr. Santosh Shetty had also stated that the actress is stable and under observation. The incident took place around 3.30 pm on Saturday near Khalapur, over 60 km from Mumbai, when the car in which she was traveling rammed into a truck, said Raigad Superintendent of Police, Anil Paraskar.
Meanwhile, film producer, Boney Kapoor visited the actress at hospital and alerted her fans that she is sedated but is coherent in her senses. While Azmi is recovering from the accident, reports said that the truck driver who was involved in the accident has filed an FIR against the actress's driver Amlesh Kamat. The latest development reveals that the FIR accuses the driver of rash driving, which resulted in the accident. The police has not arrested the driver but has called him for interrogation twice.
Shabana Azmi suffered a head injury and sustained minor injuries to her backbone. Javed Akhtar escaped with a minor injury. As soon as Shabana was brought to Kokilaben, several Bollywood stars made their way to meet her. Javed Akhtar's children Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar were spotted making their way to the hospital. The Toofan actor was seen accompanied by his girlfriend Shibani Dandekar.
