Shah Rukh Khan’s most-awaited venture, Zero showcases him as the vertically challenged guy named Bauua, Anushka Sharma as Aafia, a girl who is a scientist living with cerebral palsy and Katrina Kaif as a Bollywood Superstar named Babita Kumari. The trailer of the film was launched recently and achieved the fastest 100 Million views on YouTube in no time!
Apart from the great cast and interesting storyline, Zero is in news for a controversy surrounding a scene from the film.
After its grand trailer launch on superstar’s Birthday, Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) General Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Monday filed a criminal complaint against Shah Rukh and others for hurting religious sentiments of the Sikh community in the Zero promo by showing the actor wearing Kirpan in one of the sequences.
Petitioner Amritpal Singh Khalsa, an advocate, also sought action against the actor and the film's producers Gauri Khan and Karuna Badwal, director Aanand L Rai, Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt Ltd and the Central Board for Film Certification's (CBFC) chairperson and CEO.
The petition has sought a direction to the police to initiate action against Shah Rukh and others under Indian Penal Code section 295 (A), pertaining to deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings or beliefs.
The makers even issued an official statement that says that the film or the makers have no intention of hurting any religious sentiments. They also clarified that SRK is not wearing a ‘Gatra Kirpan’ (Article of Sikh Faith), but a dagger popularly known as Katar in the film’s trailer.
After too much hullabaloo, Shah Rukh Khan has agreed to alter the controversial scene, according to a report in Times Now. Shah Rukh has given a nod to snip the scene instead of landing in long trouble.
The Times Now report suggests that the Kirpan will be removed digitally with a sword to ensure that the community doesn't have any objection.
SRK's production house, Red Chillies Entertainment and Colour Yellow Productions together brought Zero. Produced by Gauri Khan, the Aanand L Rai directorial is all set to be released on December 21, 2018.
