After grabbing the attention for the fifth season of his chat show 'Koffee With Karan', filmmaker Karan Johar will now be hosting the 62nd Jio Filmfare Awards 2017.
Interestingly, he will be joined in by superstar Shah Rukh Khan as well at the award show which is held to honour the best talent of the show.
The 62nd Jio Filmfare Awards 2017 will be held on January 14 next year in Mumbai.
The announcement regarding the award show was made by Filmfare editor Jitesh Pillai in a press conference held on Friday and was also attended by Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt.
Besides, the Reliance Foundation chairperson Nita Ambani also shared a video message in which she spoke about the partnership of Jio with Filmfare. Nita stated that this partnership is a winning combination.
"Powered by Jio, the Filmfare Awards - current and past - will be showcased to our audiences in a variety of unique ways across our platforms," Neeta added.
While Filmfare awards are one of the most prestigious honours of the industry, it will have a new segment this year - JIO Filmfare Short Film Awards. The winners of this segment will be felicitated at the event.
Interestingly, Karan Johar, who will be a part of the short film jury, spoke about the virtues of the digital medium, and said: "As a filmmaker, the transition from celluloid to digital has been sometimes an emotional one because we grew up on celluloid and definitely every frame that is painted on celluloid is special to me, but digital is the order of the day."
