The Zero actor has built a special department for Cancer and Children ward in Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai, in fond memory of his mother, who died battling cancer. Along with his own Non-profit organisation, Shah Rukh works closely with Make a Wish Foundation, Sankara Nehtralaya, Smile Foundation, among others, that strives to fulfill the wishes of the country.

His Meer Foundation extensively works towards empowering women subjected to acid violence. Along with the never-ending list of charitable works that he continues to do, Shah Rukh possesses a soft corner towards sports. In a recent send-off ceremony, organised to honour the Indian Para-athletes who represented the country at the Asian Para Games 2018, the Chak De! India actor gave his heartfelt gratitude to the athletes.

The superstar, speaking at the event, charmed and motivated everyone. The actor, however, said that he was present for his own selfish reasons so that he could gain some motivation from these sportsmen. He even recalled his dreams of becoming a sportsperson himself.
SRK revealed that he used to take part in hockey, cricket, football, as well as athletic tournaments while trying to fit into any sports possible. Shah Rukh lauded the athletes for their profession. According to him, sports is a profession that makes everyone realise that they need to overcome their weaknesses and aim for the impossible.
Shah Rukh’s journey from a commoner to a superstar has been quite fascinating, as he landed in the show-biz industry without any so-called godfathers’ hands. The Raees actor, in his many miraculous speeches, hinted that whatever he is today, it is the struggle that he wore as an honoured badge. Speaking at an event, SRK quoted, “I consider myself to be an average talented actor. But I know how to struggle. I work hard, not once but repeatedly. If my movie is to launch on Friday morning, I keep up with the work till Thursday night. Once the movie is launched, I do not sit back for the reviews. When the movie is a hit, I do not stop working to garner appreciation, and if the movie fails to deliver its impact, I still do not wait for the negative comments to take a toll on me".

Shah Rukh’s words could strike right through the heart. “We, as humans, are never complete. We remain incomplete, be it physically, mentally, or emotionally. It is not our fault, God has made us such. He has sent us to this beautiful land to complete ourselves, embrace our incompleteness and mend our life in the most exquisite manner,” said the brilliant actor, but an even better human being.
Connected to his soil, his family, his country, his friends, and to his millions of fans across the globe, Shah Rukh continues to bring optimism and courage through his words and deeds.
