Shah Rukh starrer, Zero which is set to release on December 21, has gone through a turmoil of cultural sentiments. After the much-awaited trailer released on King Khan’s birthday, winds of claims started floating in the air that SRK’s movie has hurt the sentiments of the Sikh Community. After such claims, the Bombay High Court has posted for a hearing on November 30 on a petition filed against actor Shah Rukh Khan and makers of the film Zero.

Amritpal Singh Khalsa, one of the advocates who had filed the petition earlier this month, demanded film's director and producers to delete the scenes where Khan is seen wearing a 'kirpan'-a small dagger which holds a cultural significance amongst the Sikhs.
The petition filed had asked the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) not to grant certification to the movie or to revoke it if it has already been given in order to prevent the sentiments from being hurt.

Khalsa, on Monday, mentioned the petition before a division bench of Justices B P Dharmadhikari and S V Kotwal which posted it for hearing on November 30. However, Khalsa also took to exception in which Khan is seen wearing a vest and shorts, with a garland of Rs 500 notes around his neck and a 'kirpan' in gatra tied diagonally across his body. He went on to say that the scene with the ‘kirpan’ held some historical and cultural importance saying it is worn after taking 'rehat maryada' (conversion to Sikhism).

Earlier, the filmmakers issued an official statement that read that the film or the makers have no intention of hurting any religious sentiments. They also clarified that SRK is not wearing a ‘Gatra Kirpan’ (Article of Sikh Faith), but a dagger popularly known as Katar in the film’s trailer.
